The exposed raw material of wine was "false organic"

Maotai urgently issued a clarification announcement. After the close of the trading day, Guizhou Maotai issued a clarification announcement in an emergency. In response, it stated that Maotai wine was mainly made of sorghum and wheat and was strictly produced in accordance with the organic processing system specifications.

The announcement indicated that the “red wolfberry” sorghum used for wine production is a native species in the Chishui River Basin and is suitable for the multi-round cooking and fermentation process of Maotai. At present, the sorghum brewing for Maotai is all derived from the organic sorghum bases built in Renhuai City and its adjacent areas. Wheat is mainly produced in major producing areas such as Heilongjiang and Henan, and all raw materials are organically certified.

Regarding the problem of pesticide residues in the brewed raw materials, Moutai responded that there are strict acceptance standards and acceptance procedures for incoming raw materials. In addition to monitoring quality indicators, food safety indicators such as pesticide residues in raw materials are also strictly monitored in accordance with the requirements of organic products. Neither of the raw materials used in the production of Maotai shall detect pesticide residues.
