While it sounds cool and may change our lives at a much lower cost than other commercial genetic sequencing products, there are still many controversies about whether personalized genetic data is useful and can help people improve their health.
Veritas Genetics says consumers should pay attention to what these data can tell them, not worry about what they can't tell, especially as science develops, new discoveries will make this data more informative.
George Coach, the co-founder of the company, told the media: "People don't have to worry about what genetic sequencing can't do. If I buy a car, I don't want to hear that this car can't go to heaven, or can't go to sea. I just need to know. What it can do. The same is true for gene sequencing.
