Since the introduction <br> since the first commercial ion mobility spectrometer (SYNAPT HDMS, Waters) available, attention to the ion mobility separation continues to heat up, the mass spectrometer ion mobility separation in a traveling wave mode (IMS). As technology advances, Waters® SYNAPT G2-S introduces an improved detection system that improves ion mobility resolution and improves detection sensitivity (StepWave). Advances in all aspects of technology have allowed analytical chemists to use ion mobility spectroscopy combined with mass spectrometry to address the analytical challenges they face.

This application note studies the application of direct analysis (DA) combined with IMS/MS, in which the target sample is injected by direct injection and demonstrates the advantages of IMS. Ion mobility can be combined with a variety of direct analytical techniques, such as ASAP, DART, and DESI, to achieve separation by using ion mobility techniques.
