Winter irrigation time. The time for winter irrigation of cherry trees is generally 5 centimeters of soil with an average ground temperature of 5℃ and a daytime temperature of 3℃. Irrigation amount. The amount of irrigation water for cherry trees before winter is based on the day after irrigation that all water can penetrate into the ground and penetrate into the root distribution layer, that is, 30 cm for young fruit trees and 70 cm for mature fruit trees. The soil moisture is maintained in the field. 60%-80% of it is appropriate.
Too little can not meet the needs of fruit trees. Too much water will flush the nutrients to the rootless area, which will cause fertilizer loss and waste, and will not save water, electricity, and labor. Irrigation method. There are many irrigation methods, such as furrow irrigation, hole irrigation, pan irrigation, drip irrigation, etc. Among them, furrow irrigation is a more reasonable method for winter irrigation in cherry orchards. The method is: dig irrigation ditches between the rows of the orchard, with a depth of about 25 cm, irrigate along the ditch, 1.5 meters away from the trees, and fill the ditch level after irrigation. The advantages are: uniform soil soaking, less water evaporation and loss rate, can prevent soil structure damage, soil aeration is good, it is conducive to the activity of soil microorganisms, and the soil is not compacted.
Cover moisture preservation. After winter irrigation, use rice straw, wheat straw, chaff, wheat bran, weeds and other materials to cover the ground of the whole garden to protect moisture and prevent freezing. When covering, the straw should be cut into short sections of about 10 cm to prevent it from being blown up by the wind. If there is no mulching condition, hoe the soil in time after irrigation to prevent and reduce water evaporation.
