Honeysuckle branch winter pruning method

Winter pruning method of honeysuckle branches-- Honeysuckle is a semi-evergreen shrub with a strong root system and is resistant to drought and barrenness. It is an ideal soil and water conservation plant. The pruning of honeysuckle differs depending on the planting form, site condition, and management level. Winter pruning technology is introduced as follows:
First, the winter pruning of pruned honeysuckle is best performed from December of each year to the beginning of March of the following year. Second, pruning method 1. Pruning of young plants. The pruning of young plants is dominated by plastic surgery, and the primary, secondary, and tertiary backbones are carefully cultivated to form a firm skeleton, laying the foundation for future high yields. Plants generally use natural round heads and umbrellas. Pruning was done in the same year. Naturally, one branch was left in the shape of a round head, three branches were left in the shape of an umbrella, and branches were left to be cut in three to five sections. The remaining branches were all removed. The second year of pruning, natural round head shape to stay 2 to 3, umbrella shape to stay 6 to 7 strong branches as a first-level backbone branches, leaving 3 to 5 sections short cut, all other branches removed. In the third year of pruning, natural round heads were selected to retain 7 to 11 and umbrellas were selected to retain 12 to 15 branches as secondary branches. This way, one, two, and three levels of backbone branches were cultivated. 2. Pruning of adult plants. The skeleton of adult plants has basically formed. The pruning is mainly to cultivate robust flowering mother shoots, and to use new shoots to adjust the angle of the stem branches, leaving them weak and strong. The diameter of the selected flowering mother base must be 0.5 cm or more. Each secondary stem has at most 2 to 3 flowering mother shoots, and each tertiary stem has at most 4 to 5 stems, leaving 80 to 120 whole flowering shoots. When pruning, cross branches, drooping branches, weak branches, diseased branches, and invalid branches were removed. The remaining flowering mother branches need to be short-cut, while the prosperous people leave 4 to 5 sections for light cuts, and the middle-aged people are left with 2 to 3 sections for heavy cutting, and the distribution is even and the layout is reasonable. 3. Pruning of old strains. After 20 years of honeysuckle, the plants gradually became old. In addition to leaving enough flowering mother twigs for pruning at this time, the main branch was rejuvenated, so that the old age of the plants and the young branches were small enough to maintain the yield. The method is to focus on evacuation and encouragement.
